Creepy! Crawlers

Image
Creepy ! Crawlers is a level 2 Spectrum Readers from Carson Dellosa. WOW! I did not know all this information about arachnids! This book would make a great addition to a guided reading program. Kids would be eating this information up! The pictures are great – real photographs and up close (too close for my comfort!). The book has enough repetition to help beginner readers and enough new vocabulary to make them work and learn. There are helpful hints inside the cover for the parents and questions to ask in the back. I would love to have a set of these for my classroom for guided reading groups. Non-fiction is the in thing with the kids. I would even be able to use it as a read aloud during our “insect” unit – to find out that spiders are NOT insects! Always a cool fact for kiddos. I must say, I learned   tons of information about different spiders and arachnids from this book. The choices in these books is amazing! You can always check it out yourself at this video. http://www.

Boho Birds Bulletin Board Set

I   was so excited to get Carson Dellosa’s new Boho Birds bulletin board set! Even after all these years of teaching ( 24!!!), I still get giddy over new teaching materials! This bulletin board set has a lot of materials in it! The colors are very pretty – calming but colorful.   This product came with the border, the large bird, the tree limbs ( I really liked that! More than I thought I would!), lots of small birds and tons of leaves! I plan on using this as an attendance board for the classroom. The students can pick their bird and then put it on the lunch count board (the nest!). Hence-“ Who’s in the Nest?” I didn’t use all the leaves on the bulletin board- there were so many! I think I will use them around the room to label centers or areas of the room. I did think of some other sayings – “Look Who Flew In” or a “Great Flock is Here” . The birds reminded me of The Partridge Family – ok, I know I am
Here we go with the last one! SH!!!! You know it's a teacher's favorite H brother! haha
