Pocket Chart Fun!

Image
Storage. Organization. Important! Let’s make it pretty too!   These two pieces from carson Dellosa are all of that!   I love having a schedule chart for the students to see. I have kindergarteners. They like to know when recess, lunch and snack are. OK so do I! LOL The pocket chart does not take up much room. I can put the cards in the pockets, adding a pop of color. I can write on the cards or I can write on the pockets. How clever is that! We know that schedules change, especially as the year progresses with the students. So wipe and redo. Simple! You could use it for other things though too. It has 12 pockets. You could use it for center chart. You could use it to keep track of where everyone is – nurse, bathroom, speech, etc. You could use it for words/vocabulary. You could use it for a pocket chart center – put the poem in order. This one goes pretty much with all decors.   This will also help keep us on that schedule – correct? haha The file f...

Super Cute Cutouts!

Image
Well, I wasn’t going to make a new door d é cor but then Carson Dellosa sent me some treats! There are so many cute cutouts! I have a polka dot theme in my classroom, so the confetti and the fans are perfect for that! I have seen all the cute door ideas on Instagram and decided to use my cricut maker and the cutouts! I went with the saying “You’ll always have a SPOT in my heart!” Then I’m going to add the names of my kinders to the spots and decorate the door. I like both the confetti ones and the fans – might do a combination of both. The left over ones I think I will use to label spots in the room for centers. Now, my biggest issue will be putting the background paper on the door. Anyone have any easy solutions for that? Or is it just cause I'm so clumsy and awkward? I was thinking of trying a plastic tablecloth. Not sure. Can't take stuff of of that without ripping it. I'll keep you posted!               There are so man...

Soar With A New Mindset

Image
Soar With a New Mindset This new mini bulletin board set from @CDPub is great! How cute a bulletin board is this. Well, not the picture itself. The set! The picture is BAD! I know! It's the end of the year and things are coming down, not going up. I'm planning a neat one for the fall with this set. Everyone else starts thinking about the fall at the end of the year, correct? ;-) I have a small bulletin board that this will be perfect for- not too much but very helpful!  What a great way this will be to introduce growth mindset to the new kindergartners. We can make hot air balloons (or get the Soaring To Success set from CD) for each kid and watch them SOAR to new heights as they learn new things! We will be able to discuss how, why and what to do to keep moving forward. This is going to be great!  Start planning for next year. Don't let this great value go to waste! I love that it shows both growth and fixed mindsets. We need that starting point. They need to se...

Back to School January Style

Image
Well, it's Sunday night and the football game is on. :-) I stayed out of the building for the whole winter break! I did it! I have been busy cleaning arou nd the house. We have thrown out TONS! I have three bags to take to school this week. You all do that too don't you? You clean out at home and decide that you can use it in your classroom. Oh that needs cleaned out too. I'm feeling motivated though! This is the year!  I cleaned up the emails from school - it's all fresh and ready to go! I made a list of things that I want to do tomorrow with my kinders! None of it is on the lesson plans. That's ok! I'm good with it. I knew I better make a list though or I would forget what I wanted to do with them. I really want to talk, work on, discuss, move toward a POSITIVE GROWTH MINDSET. I bought the book Mindsets In the Classroom  by Mary Cay Ricci today. I'm super excited to start reading it. Probably when I'm done this post. lol  I also bought Beautiful Oops...

Keeping My Promise to Myself

Image
Well, I promised myself that I would blog once a week. So I was planning on doing that Friday night and it is now Sunday night. Better late than never! I had a few ideas about what I wanted to blog about and decided I would go with what made me sooo happy this year!  At the back to school sale on TPT this year, I bought myself Schroder Shenanigans in Second's Blog Binder. This is the link to her site about it. http://thebalancingacticalllife.blogspot.com/search/label/blog%20binder This link will take you to TPT to get it. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Organizing-BUNDLE-Checklist-Blogging-Binder-AND-Tpt-Purchase-Binder-in-ONE-1195631 Did anyone notice that the font changed??? I don't get it but oh well! Anyway I loved putting it togeth er! It was sooo much fun! Then I laminated section dividers for it and took it to Office Max for them to bind it. I think I could be addicted to that! Even my hubby was impressed that it was so cheap to do! Plus I had a back...

Setting Up!

Image
Well, it's that time of the year! I went in to start --- that's always the hardest part! Where to start?!?!? Well, it didn't look so bad 'cause everything was shoved into cabinets, drawers, wherever! I did get a good bit accomplished. It's not perfect yet, but it will be will be close! I took my time and organized somethings that were really bugging me. :) That felt good to get done. I kept a list handy of things that I needed to pick up or have the hubby fix. He did a great job, by the way! I only have one item I can't find... ok, it's kinda important too! It's the av adapter for the cd player! Where did I put that???? I'm sure I will find it... Please send me good wishes!  I haven't been back in lately but I have been working on some stuff at home! I'll get back there! Still enjoying the relaxing part of summer vacation! Why does school start so early?? Most of us don't get up with roosters any more, so we could start later......

New Curtains!!

Image
Yes, I made new curtains for my classroom! They are polka dot and match much better! The sewing machine cooperated very nicely today so I had them done in about 2 hours. Ran into school quick to hang them up so I won't have to be doing that Monday morning. YEA! That made me feel so good. I think they look great. Amazing how one thing makes everything feel better. Looking forward to Monday and meeting the kids and parents!!

Finished Classroom (?)

Image
It is ready to go. Well, at least for now. Is a classroom every done?? The desk is still a little messy but most everything is done! Now it is just getting the materials ready for the kids. 26 students and counting.... can't wait to meet them all! :) Don't tell my hubby, but I bought new material to make curtains... hope to get them done before Monday.... keep your fingers crossed.

Back to School

Well, tomorrow I will be headed into the classroom. Mixed emotions - excited for a new year and meeting new kiddos, but summer is fun too! I want to remember to take pictures of the room before and during the transformation of getting it back to a classroom. There is a list a page long of things that need to get done in the next two weeks- both home and school stuff... maybe it will all get done! OK - getting up early tomorrow will be the hardest part:) OH- I have to pack all the stuff that I bought this summer too...
